Make-A-Wish / Fait-Un-Voeu

October 8, 2015

FlightHub sponsored a family through Make-A-Wish in July 2015. Four round-trip tickets to Japan for the amount of $5,795 were donated and a young boy was able to fulfill his dream of visiting his favourite country!

About: The mission of Make-A-Wish® / Fais-Un-VoeuMD Quebec is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Along with the national office, eight regional chapters grant magical wishes to children in need from coast-to-coast. Make-A-Wish Canada is an affiliate of Make-A-Wish® International, the largest wish-granting organization in the world, making dreams and wishes come true for more than 350,000 children since 1980.

FlightHub has always had a soft spot for charities and organizations that help young children overcome the toughest battles of their lives. With a recent donation of $500, FlightHub hopes to continue giving back to charities like Opération Enfant Soleil.

About: Opération Enfant Soleil is a non-profit organization that raises funds to develop high-quality paediatrics and to contribute to social health projects for all the children in Quebec. Opération Enfant Soleil was founded in 1988 by the Centre hospitalier de l’Université Laval.

The Telethon was so successful in its very first year that the CHU Sainte-Justine and the Montreal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre joined Opération Enfant Soleil the following year.

The money raised was first divided between Quebec’s three specialized paediatric hospitals. It was subsequently decided that 10% of the proceeds should be devoted to the paediatric needs of regional hospitals.

Since 1988, more than $190 million has been given to major paediatric centres, regional hospitals and organizations across Quebec.

FlightHub partnered with Youth Employment services and donated $500 so that young teens and adults receive increased opportunities to succeed in their careers. FlightHub wants to make a difference in the lives of young Canadians and looks forward to a continued partnership with YES.

About: YES is a community-based English-language service provider that has been helping Quebecers province-wide find employment and start and grow businesses for 20 years.

YES was created in 1995 as a non-profit organization to stem the flow of young people out of Quebec. Since then, we have expanded our mission to help over 57,000 Quebecers during economic uncertainty through our various programs and services for Job Seekers up to age 35 and Entrepreneurs and Artists of any age.

FlightHub’s parent company, Momentum Ventures, is located in Montreal and one of the city’s most prized institutions is the Montreal Children’s Hospital. A donation of $500 was made in order to help the hospital provide better care to the sick children who cross the country to be treated there.

About: The Children’s treats close to 200,000 sick children each year, and their need for state-of-the-art equipment, innovative research, and specialized programs continues to grow. All donations help to ensure that the hospital’s most urgent needs are met, and allow the Children’s to continue to provide the superior care for which it is renowned.
